3. The use of high-strength bolts
High-strength bolts are suitable for important structures such as long-span houses, industrial plant steel structures, high-rise building steel frame structures, bridge structures, and heavy lifting machinery. According to the connection type, there are the following three types:
(1) Installation of wipe-type high-strength bolts is suitable for beam-column connections in steel frame structures, heavy-duty crane beam connections in industrial plants, solid web beam connections, braking systems and important structures under dynamic loads.
(2) Compressive high-strength bolts can be used for shear connections in static load structures that allow a small amount of sliding or in components that indirectly bear dynamic loads.
(3) When the tensile high-strength bolt is under tension, its fatigue strength is low, and its bearing capacity cannot easily exceed 0.6P under dynamic load (P is the allowable axial force of the bolt). Therefore, it is only suitable for use under static load, such as flange butt joints of compression rods, T-joints, etc.
